I have been writing to you for a couple weeks now, and
realized I had not really introduced myself.
My name is Cheryl Peck and I work for Lancaster General Health in
Lancaster, PA as a practice manager for a six-provider Family Practice. We – my boyfriend Ken Arthur and I – first became
involved with WSF through Ken’s sister, Kimberly Arthur-Tressler, as a
volunteer and board member, introduced us to the organization. Since that time we were asked to join board of
directors on which we now serve, volunteered in the warehouse on Saturdays and
this Thursday, will set off on our third journey with the team! On our first trip in 2011, we traveled to San
Jose City, about 4 hours north of Manila in the Philippines. The following year we were on board again
headed to the Philippines, but this time headed south to Kalibo.
This will be our third trip, and as much as we looked
forward to our first two trips to the Philippines, we are just as thrilled to
travel east to India. Ken Arthur is a
plastic surgeon from Lancaster, PA and has been practicing for over 22 years. He always looks forward to have the privilege
of using his training to help individuals, especially children, receive care
for cleft lips, burn scars and other surgical problems, as well as the
opportunity to again work with his colleague, Dr Dave Leber, a plastic surgeon
also from Central PA.
Many other members of last year’s team will be part of this
trip to Khambhat, so we anticipate that we will again have a very dedicated
group of physicians, nurses and volunteers committed to doing as much as
possible for the patients who await our arrival. We are grateful to be part of something so
special and hope to keep participating in these trips for years to come. Thank you all for letting us be part of the
team.
